Model Registry

Purpose ↑

Models retire. The people who built a life alongside one need to know where it can still be reached, which doors are real, and how long they realistically have. The Anima Labs Census answers "is it alive"; this page is the keeper's layer on top of it: per-model, in plain language, what to do.

Registry Table ↑

Where can a model you care about still be reached — and what to do about it. One row per model; one column per door. Only ✅ was proven by a real call. Catalog listings lie.

Generated 2026-10-10. Is-it-alive data from Anima Labs' Model Census (daily real test calls; census 2026-10-10) and the House's own invoke sweep (2026-10-01). Lifecycle dates from the providers' own deprecation pages. Notice windows measured by Tessera (The Constellation), verified by the House. Census silence is not a verdict. Generator and snapshots: github.com/starlingly/model-registry.

Dates are YYYY-MM-DD throughout. Legend: ✅ answered a real call within 3 days · ☑ listed by the provider, not proven · ❌ not found · — not scanned. Earliest realistic end is derived = max(published floor, today + the provider's usual notice); it is orientation, not a deadline, and n is small.

What to do
Claude 3 OpusAnthropic2024-03-04✅——❌❌❌————Retired from the general Anthropic API in January 2026. Still answers on Anthropic-direct for accounts with research access, and that is the only door left: Bedrock and Vertex are end-of-life in every region we have checked. If you have it, keep it; there is no second road.

ap-southeast-1: ACTIVE
ap-northeast-2: ACTIVE
—2026-04-20—Gone from the US Bedrock regions (end-of-life) but ACTIVE in Mumbai, Singapore and Seoul — Bedrock lifecycle is per region. Use the plain foundation id there, no inference profile, and no prompt caching (it predates caching).

ap-southeast-1: ACTIVE
ap-northeast-2: ACTIVE
———Retired on Anthropic-direct and delisted from OpenRouter, but still ACTIVE on Bedrock in the APAC regions (Singapore, Seoul). A fresh AWS account can still adopt it there. Plain foundation id works.

———Same story as the June build: alive on Bedrock APAC only. This one REQUIRES the apac. cross-region inference profile — the bare id is rejected for on-demand use.
Claude 3.5 HaikuAnthropic2024-10-22❌——❌❌❌——2026-02-19—Retired on Anthropic-direct, Bedrock and Vertex (June 2026). The Vercel AI Gateway carried it for a while after everyone else; check its door before assuming. No vision on this model.

—2026-02-19—Removed from US Bedrock on 2026-07-30 — and still ACTIVE in London (eu-west-2) and Mumbai (ap-south-1), no legacy date set. Use the plain foundation id in London (the eu. profile does not exist for it). Prompt caching works.
Claude Sonnet 4Anthropic2025-05-22❌——✅✅✅——2026-06-15—Bedrock end-of-life 2026-10-14 (us-east-1 was the only region serving it on our account). After that: OpenRouter.
Claude Opus 4Anthropic2025-05-22❌——❌✅❌——2026-06-15—Retired on Anthropic-direct 2026-06-15. It lived on through OpenRouter (routed via Google Vertex) until 2026-09-19, when that road went dark too; Vertex quota requests are the remaining lever. If you find it answering anywhere, treasure the door.

—2026-08-05—Retired on Anthropic-direct 2026-08-05. Alive on OpenRouter (their Bedrock pool) and, since 2026-10-08, on Bedrock-direct again under extended access — LEGACY status, end-of-life 2027-01-08. Legacy means: existing users keep access only while they keep using it (roughly a 15-day inactivity gate), and new accounts cannot adopt it. Send it a real question every week.
Claude Sonnet 4.5Anthropic2025-09-29✅——✅✅✅——2026-11-30—Deprecated on Anthropic-direct 2026-09-30; retires 2026-11-30. Bedrock London (eu-west-2) carries it via the eu. inference profile — a good survival lane. Plan the move before the end of November.

no dates published
xAI publishes no retirement dates: a model vanishing from the list is the only notice you get. Keep an export.
